Frozen Orbs in Patch 3.3.3

In the upcoming patch 3.3.3, you will be able to use Frozen Orbs somewhat like a currency item for professions. Let's say Frozen Orb will soon become the fancy name for "Emblem of Crafting" ;-)

A helpful trader, Frozo the Renowned, has set up shop in Dalaran Magus Exchange and now offers you multiple items that you can buy using Frozen Orbs.

For most cases, this is a simple one for one trade. The following items can all be bought using only one Frozen Orb:
  • Eternal Air

  • Eternal Earth

  • Eternal Fire

  • Eternal Life

  • Eternal Shadow

  • Eternal Water

  • Frost Lotus
For the following items, Frozo will be wanting a little bit more from you than just one Frozen Orb:
  • Runed Orb - Requires 4 Frozen Orbs

  • Crusader Orb - Requires 6 Frozen Orbs

  • Pattern: Frosty Flying Carpet - Requires 6 Frozen Orbs, but also for the purchaser to be a Tailor.
So be sure to check Frozo the Renowned out if you're helping us test on the PTR, and if you're curious about the other things coming in 3.3.3, check out our PTR patch notes:

Just visited Frozo on the PTR with a Tailor (450 skill), but sadly no Pattern for sale
Aha! Then you might have missed this line in the introduction to the patch notes: "Please note that, due to the manner in which test realm patch updates are applied, some of the changes reflected in the PTR notes may not appear until the next test build is released"

Since you're curious, we can reveal to you that the Frosty Flying Carpet recipe is currently intended to cost 6 Frozen Orbs and requires 425 Tailoring, so has a similar skill gain potential to the Magnificent Flying Carpet.

Unfortunately for non-Tailors, the carpet itself is Bind-on-Pickup and to make it requires one piece of each special cloth and 4 additional Frozen Orbs.

So that's:
  • 1 Ebonweave

  • 1 Spellweave

  • 1 Moonshroud

  • 4 Frozen Orbs
Of course, as this patch is still on the PTR this list of materials is subject to change.

This just happened to me: http://i47.tinypic.com/ezj4gn.jpg

Anyway, that hunter went on to say that the orbs can also be traded for frost emblems and other stuff, not only eternals and frost lotuses, and that we should check the latest patch notes. I've looked and can't see anything new, can someone enlighten me? Is that right?
No, you won't be able to exchange Frozen Orbs for Emblems of Frost.

Yeah it just takes one person to press Need after everyone's pressed Greed on the Frozen Orbs and you miss out. But the good news is that in patch 3.3.3 this won't be the case anymore -- the roll for Frozen Orbs will be an automatic Greed roll. Rejoice!
