[Description] A lot of items and power can increase or decrease health both such as Max Life or Overhealth. When these are being updated, it can also affect the items effects and can break them.
Here are some item/power interactions:
Soldier: 76
On Me! + Vishkar Condensor
Base HP: 250
HP with [Vishkar Condensor] (150 HP + 125 Shields) = 275 HP
[On Me!] increases Max Life by 20%, this also apply to the Shields.
(250 * 0.2) + (125 * 0.2) = 50 HP + 25 Shields
The new HP is now: 150 + 50 HP and 125 + 25 Shields = 350 HP
When [On Me!] goes away HP drops down to 175/275.
When HP goes from 350 down to 275, the HP change trigger [Vishkar Condensor] which converts 100 HP into Shields putting HP down to 175 HP but a full update causes the health to land on 275 HP again. This is why the Health drops to 175/275 as if you were damaged.
On Me! + Vital-E-Tee
Base HP: 250
HP with [Vital-E-Tee] (150 HP + 110 Armor) = 260 HP
[On Me!] increase Max Life by 20%, also apply to Armor.
(250 * 0.2) + (110 * 0.2) = 50 HP + 22 Armor
The new HP is now: 150 + 50 HP and 110 + 22 Armor = 332 HP
When [On Me!] goes away HP drops down to 160/ 260.
When HP goes from 332 down to 260, the HP change trigger [Vital-E-Tee] which converts 100 HP to Armor putting HP down to 160 HP but a full update causes the health to land on 260 HP again. This is why the Health drops to 160/260 as if you were damaged.
On Me! + Vishkar Condensor + Vital-E-Tee
Just like above, the same thing happens but with both together. Health with drop down to 85/285 as now both [Vishkar Condensor] and [Vital-E-Tee’s] Health convert gets triggered. This is also why you have 382 HP with [On Me!] and not 342 HP (285 + 20%) as the +20% is calculated on the base HP before items reduce it and also applies the 20% to both Shields and Armor.
Overhealth
Now, let’s take a look at Overhealth. The item [Ironclad Exhaust Ports] is a good example to use on Mercy. (When you use an ability, gain 25 Overhealth for 3s.)
Overhealth items break as soon as your Max Health is getting reduced. If you have [Ironclad Exhaust Ports] equipped and you lose your Max Health by equipping something like [Vishkar Condensor] or [Vital-E-Tee], it will now stop giving you the Overhealth when using an ability. This will happen to any item that gives Health if you buy and then sell them so even something like [Adrenaline Shot] or [Siphon Gloves] will break it. (The first two mentioned doesn’t require to be sold as their effect decreases Max Health when equipped)
[Phantasmic Flux], I’ve seen a lot of people talking about this not working. Just as above… the Overhealth breaks when Max Health is reduced. The breaking of Overhealth is a bit odd though. [Phantasmic Flux] is supposed to give up to 100 Overhealth but if you break it while having less let’s say 35, the Overhealth gained from [Phantasmic Flux] still works but now only goes up to 35 extra Overhealth and not 100. So basically the Overhealth you can gain caps at where it breaks. You will most of the time not have any Overhealth on you when it breaks which means that you won’t get any Overhealth at all.
Certain hero items is not affected by this such as Orisa’s [Charged Chassis], Reaper’s [Crimson Cloak] or Zarya’s power [Barrier Benefits].
While other hero items are affected such as Junker Queen’s [Scav Scraps] that stops working.
Currently, to fix items with Overhealth that have stopped working is to sell the item and buy it again.
