Assuming by now the wiki info about the wvw ranks are final, does that means a cap on rank 150 and your progression is over?
IMO, one of the biggest mistake of many great mmorpg games is making a cap on their rank system, you hit the last rank and that’s it, no more progression and you are stuck there with your respective titles and rewards if there are. But wait.. I still playing. I think they forgot to realize that their games are lifetime play, and preventing your rank progression at some point is non-sense, unfair and lately unfixable. It kills the competitiveness, you can even make higher ranks harder and harder to reach, to either avoid big numbers but the most important, you need to keep moving on, you can’t make it stop. You should never ever put an end to the player’s rank progression.
The fact that you are unable to advance as you play, watching players below you ranking up while you can’t no more, and neither they will eventually, forcing you to play alts( sure you can play your main for fun, for the challenge, but no xp no progression. Would you?) or even leaving their games for that matter, is hard to believe. Well, surprisely games DOES have done it and I would be shocked if GW2 follows this same failure rank system that we’ve seen before. Can’t think of GW2 making this huge mistake too, I think where mmo games fails, GW2 has and will success.
I mean why would they stop you from getting WXP in wvw at r150? Why can’t you reach the next rank level from r150 Legend (ex: r151 Legend.. r160 Legend).
The tittles were great choice, adding more is no need if you are still moving forward, and would be thoughtful like a WvW Player Rank Leaderboard or simply a wvw rank level instead of current level in game, for wvw player rank trackers. Also lifetime ranks leaves open options for future rewards that could be added on higher ranks such as r170 +4 all stats, r180 +4 all stats, just an example.
“The game never ends, WvW will never end, and so your rank progression shouldn’t either.”-
