Where does Trading Post Data come from?

I have seen tons of sites that have market data (current & historical prices) from the trading post. How do these sites access this data? Does ANet have a public API to access this information? Or is there another method of collecting trading post data?

Please keep in mind that we will only provide support when the Trading Post is accessed through the game. Unofficial methods of accessing the Trading Post will not be supported, so keep in mind that you do so at your own risk.
