When does 'excessive messaging' ban lift?

Last night in Lion’s Arch, I was trying on different pieces of armour on my character, and it turned out I was hitting the wrong key combo, so instead of trying it on properly I was ‘saying’ the link to the armor in chat. My character window was covering my chat box, so I didn’t realize until 10 minutes in or so.

Unfortunately, this turned out to trigger some sort of automatic excessive messaging block – now I can’t chat on map at all! This was 12 hours ago, and my account still appears to be banned from chat. Does anyone know if this automatically lifts? Is there something else I can do to lift the ban?

Thanks!

Yes, the suppression expires automatically, and it usually lasts only a modest amount of time.

A ticket would not be productive in this case, so I won’t recommend that you send one. In fact, I’d recommend that you do not, because I imagine you’ll be back in (chat) action before the ticket can be addressed.

The suppression is normally short, and there is no way for an agent to reduce or remove the suppression. So I suggest you just wait for the suppression to expire, keeping in mind that frequent “testing” to see if you can chat will only serve to extend the time of suppression.
