Weird random sound during play

I hope anyone can help me with this rather annoying problem.

I am playing GW2 on my 2008 Mac. The game is playable, although not ideal. But i don’t have any problems with the graphics. It is a sound-related problem that’s bugging me.

During play, at random, a sound plays. The best way i can describe the sound is a ploink or someone striking a drinking glass with a spoon. What’s annoying me the most is the fact i cannot find what it is.

Can anyone help me with this?

Hi evthillo, you could completely rule out the sound coming from the OS or other software by opening the Sound Options in-game, and moving the Master Volume slider completely to the left. I would be interested in knowing if the sound persists.
