Weird crashing issue after world selection

Hi guys,

Just need help regarding this error I keep getting while downloading files just right after world selection (yup, just got the game and can’t even start playing it yet).

Even after disabling antivirus and firewall, and even performing clean boot I keep getting the following error. I noticed that there was no such error reported in the forums so far from my search. If any of you guys are familiar and could help on what can resolve this issue, I’d really appreciate it so I can start trying out the game.

Hi Meister!

Have you tried repairing the client yet? If you’re unsure how to do this, please follow the steps below. First,

1. Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key.
2. Paste in the following line and then click OK.

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2

Delete the local.dat file located here.

Next,

1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.

Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes

Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”

6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.

If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.

7. Right-click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” and select “Run as Administrator.”

Allow the repair to run and once completed, “Right-click” “GW2.exe” or your Guild Wars 2 Shortcut and select “Run as Administrator.”

Once completed, please try starting Guild Wars 2 again.

If that doesn’t work out, could you please post a Game Advisor report to the thread? It’s essentially a “glorified DxDiag” that gives us a bit more info than just hardware and drivers that helps us out in narrowing down the cause of these kinds of issues. If you’re not comfortable posting this information on the forums, then I’d highly recommend creating a support ticket. You should receive a response fairly quickly. The thread below should give you more insight on contacting support:
