Temporary Account Suspension questions.

Good evening,

Earlier this evening I found out my account had been temporarily suspended for 72 hrs. Now I am pretty sure I know what the inappropriate language was that I used and for that I hold my hands up. ( using a one word name and/or possibly repeating a comment used by another player).

My concern though is that while I am almost 100% sure that I was reported by another player, were the chat logs checked? And if so it should be clear that:

1. I did not start the name calling, I was called ladyboy and d**k by one player which prompted my response (rather be a d**k than a t**t).

2. I was set upon by 2 players for merely saying that players should wait for everyone to arrive at Spider Champion in Queensdale so that all players in the champion train had a fair chance to get rewards too.

3. One of the said players accused me of trying to tell people what and when they could kill, when this is so far from the truth as since I started playing the game, many in queensdale (Fissure of Woe server) enjoy following an order to the champion farm. the reason many players ask (not just me) others to wait at spider is because it is the weakest champion and takes less than 20 seconds to kill, so nearly everyone likes the train to wait.

4. One of my comments was in direct response and used the exact wording and language that one of the 2 players used against me.

Now I fully understand that myself or others cannot determine what other players do, especially when it comes to starting on people for the totally wrong reason and nor do we try to tell players what to do. The 2 players who starting giving me grief are not players that many of the regulars recognised and they did in fact ruin a lot of peoples enjoyment of the game for a period following their arrival.

I was not happy at being picked on, but felt better when a new player I had helped previously messaged me to say how grateful he was for my help the previous evening.

My most important question is:

If Anet checked the chat logs from when I was reported or when Anet checked logs and I was flagged, then surely the other player was flagged/checked too yes? If my language was inappropriate then surely so was the other players?

Was this other players account suspended too? I can provide the players name for you if you wish. But if I am suspended for my language then I do expect Anet to administer the same punishment to them also.

This happened between 1pm and 3pm today (3rd October 2013) United Kingdom time.

Like I said earlier I fully accept my own suspension but want to be sure the same rules applied to them as well.

Thank you for your time. And I look forward to your reply.

Kind regards,

Ade.

Of course the chat logs were reviewed! Not only were they reviewed, they are saved onto account notes so that I easily could find them. Which I did.

You insulted someone. You directed the comment towards a person by name. And you used several offensive words in your comments.

No amount of reports for something that didn’t happen will result in action on an account. No amount of private contrivance to “get a player banned” will result in a termination. Reports are the core of our ability to suspend or terminate accounts, with cause, but cause must be and always will be found. Reports do not equal action. Bad behavior equals action.

The suspension was entirely appropriate.
