Start-up issue

The Client refuses to run for long, and won’t update, it begins to download, and then suddenly download speed drops off to 0, and soon after the client freezes and brings my laptop to its knees! I’ve no idea why this is happening, I’m running it as an administrator, I’ve tried turning my firewall off, and I’ve tried using the repair function (this just freezes too, occasionally I get an error message should I leave it frozen for long enough, though it just suggests I send the report to Anet) anyone heard of this issue?
