Open forums on MMO's

You know what?

From playing lots and lots of mmo’s I’ve come to a conclusion (as many certainly did) :

Forums are getting more bad rep for the games than helping players.

I think from now on the companies that make MMO’s should only have a private channel to receive input and should shut down open forums for good.

If and only if they deemed necessary would they drop a post to debate something.

I’m sick and tired (I’m sure it’s not only me) to come to forums to have a good read or try to find help or provide help depending on the situation and I have to flip through piles of crap with nerf this nerf that , the game sucks, wow is better, class is OP and generally whining.

I wouldn’t give akittenbut I think it actually worsens the game experience specially when devs have a tendency to hear the complaints (good or bad).

That’s why I think open forums should cease to exist (at least in mmo’s).

Share your thoughts.

Hi everyone.

The Guild Wars 2 Forums are an essential part of the community and they certainly help the team in a number of ways. To eliminate them would mean to erase a very important channel of communications between the team and the players and we do not want that at all.

The activity in the forums is of course hectic after a launch but we are counting on a team of moderators. They contribute to make this a respectful and tidy place. It is part of our philosophy to hear every single player here as long as contributions are kept polite.

Be sure that the forums are a very important part of Guild Wars 2-
Thanks for your concerns.

I will proceed now to lock the thread.
