Low FPS - [merged]

Hello everyone, I have had an issue. Basically I seem to be having very low fps (10 – 15) in many areas within the game. I get around 25 – 30 when in large-ish areas where really nothing is going on. A good example is the beginning PVP instance. Around there I got enough FPS to run the game decent (which is how I want to run it.) Im not looking for 120FPS (which I know I wont get, I do not have the best PC..) But I want to run it at AT LEAST 30 FPS.

Like I said, I do not have the best computer in the world, but I should be able to run the game in low-med settings (maybe even high) at a good 30 fps or more. Now im not positive if thats correct, thats where you guys come in.

NOTE: Even when I switch the settings in game to ANY SETTING (except for ultra) The FPS does not change whatsoever. (In ultra is drops a few frames but not much.)

Ok, so here are my specs:

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! If you need any additional information, please comment and I would gladly get back to ASAP. I want to play this game very badly, but I refuse to play the game at this low of FPS, it frustrates me.

ALSO! I have another newer model computer, which belongs to my father, which has all better specs than mine except for the video card, its an older model, that runs this game WORSE than mine currently.

One more thing to note is that a few days ago I sent ArenaNet a support email about it, and they replied next day. They told me to run Game Advisor, like I did, and update the email. I did that as well. But now its been 5 days now and no reply. So please, if anyone knows a way I can fix this, please help me!!! Thanks!

Hey all,

First, I want to apologize for the amount of time it has taken me to get a post up in this thread. We were digging through all the information we had been able to obtain from everyone, looking for any information that would better help us identify why you all are experiencing the issues that you are.

With that said, we would like you to run the below command which will provide us with a performance profile of your system while running Guild Wars 2.

Please follow the instructions outlined below:

1. Navigate to your “Guild Wars 2” installation folder. By default, this should be C:\Program Files(x86)\Guild Wars 2.
2. Locate “GW2.exe” and right-click selecting “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this new shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Performance Test.”
4. Right-click “Guild Wars 2 Performance Test” and select “Properties.”
5. Locate the “Target” line and add -perfdebug to the end.

Please make sure this is outside the quotes in the target line.

Correct Example:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -perfdebug

Incorrect Example:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe -perfdebug”

6. Once added, please click “Ok” to save your changes.
7. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Performance Test” to start Guild Wars 2.
8. Log into your character and move to an area which you experience poor system performance in.
9. Press “Ctrl+Shift+C” to start a performance profile. This should take about 15 seconds and display a message in the chat window.
10. Once completed, you should be prompted with a save location of the .dat file containing your performance profile.
11. Please locate this file by clicking “Start” then “Documents” then “Guild Wars 2.” Double click the “Profiles” folder and you should see your profile’s “.dat” file.
12. Please compress this file with a program like Winzip, Winrar or 7-zip.
13. After the file has been compressed you will need to change the file extension to something like .piz before you can attach it to your post.

Once we have this file, we can examine the results for potential issues.

Thanks all, looking into this now.

*Edit
I went ahead and took down the previous instructions until I can figure out why its not working for you guys.

Hey all,

For those of you that tired to use the -perfdebug command last night, can you confirm that the .dat file that should be found in the profiles folder is not there for me please.

Hey guys, I know I’ve said this before but hang tight. This is something that we are still currently looking into as this is something that is difficult to reproduce in order to narrow down conditions that cause severely low FPS, intermittent or sustained. We are unable to diagnose what is wrong with everybody’s PC and in many cases these can be factors that are out of our control (drivers, hardware issues, not meeting the minimum requirements, etc.).

We are still tracking down common driver issues and hardware problems and weeding out the differences between things that are our problem vs. a system related issue.

Again, thanks for your patience and we continue to look into this issue.
