Launcher wants to download 200k files everytime

I downloaded the installer and there seemed to be no problems installing the client to my applications folder. So I start up the GW2 client and allow the launcher to download the 200k files. After allowing it to finish I hit play now and it wouldn’t allow me to log in. I decided to restart the application to see if that would fix the log in issue. To my dismay the launcher started downloading the 200k files again. Just to check, I closed the launcher when it was at about 4% (second time downloading) and when I reopened it started from the beginning again. I’m currently allowing the launcher to download the files for the third time, while I am already logged into my account. I’ll post an update in this thread when the launcher finishes for the second time (hopefully it works). Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Did I miss something where I have to declare where the files from the launcher need to be downloaded to? Im running OS X v10.7.5 on an iMac that I bought earlier this year.

EDIT: Yes I realize the “% finished” can sometime be misleading, but it is in fact starting from a clean download (full 200k files) and not just restarting the %.

Hey folks, I’m sorry to hear about your problems. We haven’t seen this happen on a Mac, but we’ll do our best to help you figure it out.

First off, when you’re installing the game, are you letting it install to the Applications folder of your Mac’s system HD? (That’s where it is set to install by default.)

This issue has been known to occasionally occur on PCs, and it usually has to do with account permissions, so I’m wondering if you’re signed into the same administrator account when installing and running the application. Are you?

Also, have you recently tried to verify/repair disk permissions on your Mac? If not, you may want to try this. Here’s how:

  1. Quit all applications (including background applications).
  2. At the Finder, navigate to the Utilities folder inside your Applications folder (Command+Shift+U).
  3. Double-click Disk Utility.
  4. Click on Macintosh HD (or whatever you’ve named your system drive, on which Guild Wars 2 is installed).
  5. Click Repair Disk Permissions (this will take a few minutes).
  6. Close Disk Utility and run Guild Wars 2.

I can’t be sure that this will help your situation, but it’s worth a try. We’ll post here again if we come across any other possible fixes.
