issue with the link my Guild Wars account

Hi
I just bought GW2 Digital Heroic Edition on the GW2.com website yesterday and wanted to link my GW1 account.
I log in just fine and go to the link account, write my username and password from GW1 but when I press the link account button, I end up on the log in page and nothing seems to happen other than it keeps throwing me to log in again and again.
I have used IE, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers, hoping it was the browser also tried using two different computers.
What is going on and how do I get this done?
I did try to search for this issue but it did not seem to matter what I wrote in the search, noting seems to show up.
