Issue with mining

I have been finding issues with mining copper and what not. i have the equipment to the mining in my characters bag but when i try to go mining it says i dont have the equipment. I have tried equipping it where i put my weapons but it still wont work.

Gathering tools go in their own slots, not the weapoh slow. Double-click on the tool and it should automatically equip it in the gathering slow, if you open the Hero panel, you’ll also see 3 gathering tool slots on the right, above your aquatic weapons.
