Hi,
I noticed the below message in my inbox of my email account and did not, will not click on the link (link purposely left out of message below), but want to know if it’s a phishing email or if somebody actually did get access to my account. I don’t have any high profile characters (i.e., have less than 4 silver so nothing really worth taking anyway) to worry about but if this is phishing than maybe it will make others aware of what is going around, and if it’s not phishing then obviously a random password generator of 16 alphanumeric is not enough. I don’t use same passwords for any sites, I use a program (lastpass) to issue new passwords for each site.
Anyway, message was as follows:
A log-in attempt from the following location is currently awaiting your authorization.
Address: 114.44.9.234
City: Taipei
Region: 03
Country: TW
This location is approximated based on information provided by your Internet Service Provider. If in doubt, deny the request and try again.
If you are certain this log-in attempt was not made by you, then someone else knows your log-in credentials and you should change your password immediately via Account Management.
For security purposes, we alert you each time your account is accessed from an unrecognized location. To authenticate this log-in attempt, please click the link below:
<<Link would normally be here>>
End message.
Not sure how I would deny the attempt since when I login to my account (and I have changed the password with a new random password issued by lastpass) but when I login to my account and click on security it only shows that I logged into my account about 1 min ago using the IP address that I know is mine. I don’t want to click on the link since I’m not positive that it belongs to Guildwars2.com even though it looks like it does.
Is there a mass phishing scam going around right now? Usually gmail will auto put this type of email in my spam box when too many gmail users get and tag them as spam but this one made it into my inbox.
