Is PvP on autopilot?

I recently learned that the entire feature pack for PvP was basically designed by one developer, and class changes are essentially done by top players participating in a focus group for the developers.

We also haven’t gotten any reward tracks since they were launched — even though we were promised we would get some with each Living Story release, and there have been some solid Living Story rewards that could easily work.

Even world vs. world, the only other PvP-like mode in Guild Wars 2, seems to be on autopilot. Besides Edge of the Mists and over-hyped tournaments that ended up being exploited to death, there has been no content for months — not even WvW tracks.

One of the constant questions for me is that ArenaNet has said they only have about 150 to 200 developers on Living Story and a similar amount on other projects. Does anyone really feel like those people put out an acceptable level of features and content out every six months? It certainly doesn’t feel that way on the PvP side.

I’m not trying to demean the developers who have, despite slow content and feature releases, really put out a phenomenal, beautiful game with great combat and a lot of potential. But as we near the two-year anniversary, it seems like this game has completely failed to reach that potential — particularly on the PvP front. There is simply no sign that it will ever be a seriously competitive game.

It seems like PvP is on autopilot. It would be nice to know if that’s intentional and the new status quo, so I can set my expectations accordingly.

Nope, not on autopilot. Nope, not designed by one designer. I Promise features are coming eventually. I want them finished and as badly as you do!
