How to keep an iMac Cool

I’m using an Mid 2011 21.5 inch iMac and have set lots of the settings to mid or low and the framerate limit to 30 but I am getting a little concerned about the heat on the back during long gaming sessions. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on keeping an iMac cool while playing the game or what good fans are out there because there are so many from the cheap to super expensive that I’m not sure which is adequate. Thank you!

Hey Jadjuka,

In some cases high temperatures may also be due to dust build up inside the system. I would suggest looking at the vents on the system to see if dust has built up on them. If so, then they need cleaned. You can do this by wiping them with a dry microfiber cloth or using canned air to spray the dust away. If the dust build up is contributing to the issue, you should see the temperatures lower a bit as there is more room for the hot air to pass out of the system.

If this did not help, please let us know and I will see what else I can do to help you with this issue.
