Hacked and lost most of my things

Hello! First post from me ever. Unfortunately it’s because something crappy happened.

So I log into my email and whoa, authorization attempt from Japan? I don’t remember taking no trip down to Japan. Anyways, I scrounge up my serial code and reset my password. Log in and bam, everything that isn’t soul bound is gone. Most of my gold is gone. All of my gems are gone. I check the Black Lion trading thing and notice that some of my materials are still going on sale, so I take them down immediately.

Sent support an email, then decided to post here. So what can I expect to happen honestly? Any way for Anet to find out and track who did this? Maybe get my things back?

Checking on a hacked account can take a bit of time. I imagine you will hear back very soon. Yes, you’re correct, it’s best not to play until you know if you’re account will be restored, because you will lose progress earned since the compromise event.

And remember, changing your password is good, but doing what these players recommend — checking your computer for malware — is the only thing that will prevent another hack. So do that first, and then, once clear, reset the password again.
