My account was hacked last night around 7:10pm PST
The hacker was able to disconnect me and hijack the account (most likely using the authorized connections tool). I was able to “battle” the hacker for account control and used the recovery tool and game serial to regain control of the account. I updated my account security and removed the authorized connection from KR (korea?) Unfortunately in the time I spent doing this, the hacker managed to rotate through my characters, steal the collectibles, gold and valuable items.
As of 10:55AM PST the following day I have not received any information other than the automated email response from Arenanet. Nothing from Arenanet Admins yet… does anyone have experience with their typical response time?
Anyone disconnected from their account should immediately access the Guild Wars Account Security and disconnect any un-authorized connections (especially ones from outside your home region). You might be able to prevent the hackers from stealing anything if you do this quickly. Sure beats waiting around for response from Arenanet.
