Hi,

For a few days now I am having problems with my GW2. Whenever I try to connect to a server sometimes it simply won’t load and becomes stuck on the loading screen so I have to restart the game and try until it actually works.

The second problem I am having is during when I am actually logged in. I move around with my character for a while and then suddenly my game becomes unresponsive and everything lags drastically. At that point I have to quit the game and rejoin it and even then I may not be able to play because of the same problem.

I can confirm that this has nothing to do with my internet as this problem only happens with GW2 for the past few days which leaves the game entirely unplayable.

I also tried to reinstall the game but that did not help either, the problem still persists. Please help me figure this out.

I attach Game Advisor log for your convenience.

Hi Redundant,

I’d like to start with MSCONFIG since everything else in your report looks pretty good. Please try using the instructions below to prevent background applications from automatically starting with Windows as this can often causes issues like the one you reported. Please note, this command will not uninstall any applications from your computer. All MSCONFIG does is prevent these applications from automatically starting when Windows boots up.

For Windows 8, this is now a two-step process.

First, open the Windows 8 menu and type in “MSCONFIG.” This will start a search for any “Apps” called “MSCONFIG.”

The first and only result should be “System Configuration.” Left click on this.

A new window will appear called “System Configuration.”

Click the “Services” tab.

Click “Hide all Microsoft Services” at the bottom and once done, click “Disable All.”

Click the “Startup” tab.

Click “Open Task Manager.”

A list will be generated of all the applications you have set to start when Windows first boots up. Right-click on these applications one by one and select “Disable.” Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes. You will then be prompted to reboot your PC. Once you return to Windows, try connecting again.
