Freezing during Repair Data Archive

Hey guys! So I built my own computer and for 4 months things have worked happily until my SSD (OCZ Vertex 4…yeah…) crashed. So I got an RMA and got it back, installed everything fine – Win7 64 bit home, drivers, etc.

I used the CD set to install GW2 this time instead of doing a full download. After the CD install was complete it jumped straight to downloading 8GB of updates, so I let that sit overnight and install. Came back in the morning, all was done so I shut off my computer and went through my day. Came back to play at night and it said there was an installation error so the program ran through all the GW2 files to look for errors, then it went on downloading again, so I walked away, and came back to see that my boot drive vanished (apparently this is common OCZ drives). Eventually my drive was recognized again and I went along my merry way. I was leery of trying to finish the GW2 install since this update and the update before it crashed the first time has killed my SSD. The repair data archive begins running so I sit and watch and my computer freezes part way. I can use my mouse and click on other programs but nothing initiates. So I manually shut down (did this 2x) and my OCZ is unaffected.

I can’t figure out why GW2 won’t install..it just keeps freezing. I read that irregular volt levels can fry an SSD easily so I checked those and they’re within the safe range so I’m ruling all of that out. I NEED HELP!!! I miss playing my game :P

System specs:
Windows 7 64-bit Home
850 Watt Antec PSU
Asus P8B75-V mobo
8gb ddr3 1600MHz (G.Skill)
Intel i5 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz
MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti
Asus DVD drive
128GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD

My only issue is that Guild Wars 2 won’t install. Leery of my SSD again since it did vanish once on day 2…

Hi Killing Is Heroism – Sorry to hear you had so many issues with getting the client to install/play but I’m glad to hear that you were able to narrow down the cause. Thanks for sharing your resolution!
