Fractal weapon Question

Could a dev please let me know if transmuting fractal weapons is ok? I got this sneaking suspicion that there will be some way to turn fractal weapons into ascended quality and if you were to transmute it to an exotic now you would lose that chance.

You should totally transmute these, we will not change them into ascended items.

I would also like to point out that with transmutation you can continue to transmute the item later on. For example you could transmute a skin you put on an exotic weapon onto an ascended weapon.
