For such a polished game that has been so lovingly crafted why have you made the voices so bad?
Ok, let me be more specific.
First it is the many times I find wrong pronunciation. One example being Centaur is pronounced “Sentor” NOT “Sentar” this one occurs so many places in the game as to drive me nuts! It is like many Americans say “erbs” and “erbal” when it is “herbs” and “herbal” A second example is some woman (I cant remember the exact place) pronouncing the word Quay “koo-ay” I nearly choked when I heard her! “I think you will find him down by the koo-ay” These are just two examples, there are so many! How did this pass Q&A?
Next is the general cheesey delivery of lines! I truly think you went to a renaisance fair in New York state somewhere and taped the local Americans trying to do “Ye Olde English” I was once in America on holiday and was forced by friends to go to one of these terrible events, listening to audio in your game reminds me of that terrible day /shudder
The way you have electronically treated any character voices that are large by slowing it down so it sounds deep really really grates on my nerves too. The only voice actor I have found has done a decent job is Felicia. Maybe you should take note and ONLY use gamers to do VOs. They seem better placed than anyone to know context and do not all sound like Cpt James T Kirk at a renaissance faire!
Seeing Charr females and then hearing the voice is complete disconnect for me. They sound like they are from the set of desperate housewife’s when they should sound like someone from the set of Mad Max. One example being the Norn storyline where you have to join a warband for being drunk and losing the cannon ball flinging thing. I was slack jawed and how awful it sounded.
Finally the use of modern language is farcical! “Moving on up Kid” Just one example.
I love the game, but for me personally I skip as much dialogue as I can. It just make me twitch every time I hear “the Sentars (Centaur’s) are coming, RUN!”
I am sorry to hate on your hard work. :-(
