Display name changed

So I’ve just logged into my account to find my display name has been changed! It was ‘Bullshift’ I have now been renamed to ‘Blush lift’. I have had no email or personal message to tell me why this has happened.

I’ve been playing MMO’s for over 12 years and I’ve used this name without any issue what so ever. I’ve been in GW2 since release and I’ve had no issue until today.

I can understand if the name is deemed offensive but I’ve been given no information that Anet has changed it! I usually use this name in all my games, or any name with ‘Bul’ or ‘Bull’ in front but as my display name was this in GW2 I didn’t bring it to an actual character name.

I am curious why Anet has changed this and given me no written communication to tell me why.

I understand that you were surprised to see the name change, but the name was actually reported to us. We have a provision against “creative spelling” and the name — while it may have been created with good intentions — simply wasn’t something we could leave in place. Using an anagram, the name was changed.

For further information, we do not offer display name changes (or re-changes) upon request. This is a feature that may come in the distant future, but it’s not something we offer at the present time.
