Could a dev please confirm if this is a genuine dev reply regarding exotic precursors?

Hi devs and GW2 community!

For awhile, a particular screenshot has been circulating regarding whether or not exotic precursors for legendaries have a set recipe or not, and in it, Linsey Murdock confirmed that the only way to obtain the precursors is random chance in the form of world drops, or from combining four rare or exotic weapons. Supposedly, these are the only two methods, and there is no set recipe to create the precursor.

There has been some speculation regarding whether or not this screenshot has been fabricated, and I think a lot of us would like to know the truth regarding the screenshot. To me, it only seems fair that this knowledge is out in the open if the message is indeed legitimate.

The internet cracks me up. Yeah, I said that.

I know that random can be frustrating at times, but I think that it also provides joy and excitement at times.

You never find joy in getting a nice drop from killing something or opening a chest? You never find joy in opening a container object just to see what you get? How about in Tetris when you finally get the line piece you’ve been waiting for and triumphantly slam it down to clear 4 lines? Nothing?

This is all I meant. I totally respect your frustrations in trying to get a precursor and I am not saying that I think random is like omg guys the best thing ever and we should totally make the whole game that way. All I said is that it can also create joy AT TIMES.

I should really stop expecting the internet to take my words at face value. I’ll just shut up now.

LOL thanks. I’ll admit I feel more than a little foolish heh. It’s been years since I have actively interacted with our playerbase. I’m all rusty. I absolutely should have expected the response I got. Ah well. I am a real person, after all.
