Commander Abilities

I feel like the commander tag is far from its full potential, just thought id post a few suggestions for improvement.

1. Commander Utility skills/Elite skill – This would make playing as a commander a much more defined role, If commanders gain access to an support skills for a larger group of people than a typical boon/heal skill. Possibly being able to place an AoE ring that buffs squad members inside it. It would make it easier to highlight exactly where to defend and rewards players for being in squads and following orders.

2. Map markers for squad members. Being able to place multiple waypoints on the map for squads to follow again makes for much more strategic gameplay.

3. A secondary role costing gold or Commanders can grant the icon to a single player for a set time(General? Corporal? Captain?) Seeing as WvW is essentially a war having more visible ranks allows servers to strategies and divide the army into different roles. Say commanders lead the major forces while their assistant take on tasks assigned to them. This also means that instead of two people running a commander tag to divide their forces they can split up into rank of command.

This is the type of upgrade to the system we will likely be making, but it is not a short-term project. We feel commanders aren’t getting enough mileage out of the system as it is now and we’d like to make it much, much more robust.
