Black screen on startup

So I haven’t had a crash since I stopped doing invasions. I was getting bluescreen GPU errors while those were going on. But now I have a different problem.

When I launch the game about over 50% of the time I just get a black screen. I can’t even terminate the process because if I try to CTRL+ALT+DEL anything windows related is just flikkering through the black screen, but it’s impossible to actually do anything. So over 50% of the time I’m forced to manually restart my PC.

Anyone else getting this? Any advice? My drivers had a full and clean install and I don’t run into any problems with other games. I have a nvidea GTS 250 card and 320.x drivers.

Hi Ivonbeton – If you’re behind a router, I’d recommend bypassing this and connecting directly to your modem to rule out any issues with the router. If you’ve got a router/modem combo unit, I’d recommend disabling the SPI Firewall as this has been known to be a common culprit of this issue.

I’m not finding a whole lot of information on the hardware, so you may need to contact your ISP to see if you have this or a similar option, but it shouldn’t just be your router’s firewall.

Aside from that, I would recommend deleting the GW2 cache folder, disabling any security software that you have running (just so we can rule it out), and even a clean installation of your video card drivers.

Unfortunately there are a number of different causes with this kind of thing and so it’s a bit of a process of elimination.
