Black screen, nothing fixes it

After a number of other trials and errors in installing the game, I finally got it to start up. I got as far as selecting a server. A freind told me to pick gate of madness, where they are.

As soon as I selected it and clicked yes on the prompt about having to pay to switch to a different server in the future, the screen went black and only showed the in game cursor. If I hit F11 I can see the settings, but nothing I do there changes anything. I’ve restarted multiple times and nothing changes. I just go straight to the black screen and cursor. The first time it did this I let it sit like that for a full 40 minutes to see if it would change, and nothing.

I am running as administrator, just re-installed the game to get this far, tried the -repair thing, and the Anti-Aliasing is already set to “Use application settings” at default so there’s nothing wrong there.

I cannot figure out from anyone or anywhere what might be wrong here. This is a new computer and it should run the game smoothly.

I don’t want to be redundant, and if you’ve done this, then skip to the second paragraph. But I need to ask if you have tried reviewing our sticky thread on Black Screen issues, because it does have troubleshooting tips. Here’s the link: https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/tech/Black-Screen-Issues-1/first#post4146816

If that info doesn’t help you resolve the issue, and if you have not already done so, then I suggest you click Support at the top of this page and then clicking the “Submit a request” option. Provide as much information as possible in the web form, which will create a ticket within the support system. If you do not know some of the information requested, leave the field blank. However, there are two drop-down areas that require an answer so be sure to choose from those fields so the ticket is properly submitted. Once you’ve done that, the CS Team should be able to help you.
