Annoying Sound Bug

Hello,

I’ve been having this really annoying sound bug issue with Guild Wars 2.
This problem occurs during large battles with a lot of people.
The sound overrides all sound and the only solution at this time is to stop the software and restart it. What is causing this?

Apparently, it is a common issue.

Thanks for the reports, everyone! This is an issue we’ve been tracking for a while now, and I’ve heard we may have a fix for it in the next few days. If you continue seeing it, please let us know.

Unfortunately, we’re still having problems identifying the root cause of this issue. If there are exact steps you can take to reproduce this bug, please let us know!

On that note, please be sure to keep this thread on topic and only with information related to the “siren” sound bug. If you have other audio bugs to report, please create a separate thread. Thanks, everyone!

Hi everybody.

Thanks for bringing this to out attention. We will proceed to pass it on to the team and also to move this to the Game Bugs subforum.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for continuing to give us details about this bug! I just checked with one of our programmers, and he’s still hard at working tracking this one down; I’ve passed on the information about the sound slider reducing the chances of it happening as well.

As before, please let us know if you find an exact way to consistently reproduce this issue, especially if you find a way to do it outside of a huge group of people.

Thank you for your patience and understanding; we’ll continue to work on this one and update as more information comes in.

I just finished getting the vista near Drowned Brine, Malchor’s Leap (southwest corner). I decided to try and swim around to the shore, and in doing so hit an invisible wall. I decided to turn around, instead of porting far away, and was then mass spammed by “you’ve hit a strong current and will be pushed back if you continue further.” I tried retracing my steps exactly, but to no avail, so I thought maybe if I relog the possible glitch will fix itself? Upon doing so I was teleported to the entrance of the zone from where it connected to the zone Straights of Devistation (kick@$$ name btw devs!)

“You’ve hit a strong current and will be pushed back if you continue further” is displayed if you try to swim out of the map boundary. When you exited, you were out of bounds, so on relogging, it put you back at the default map start point.

I apologize for the lack of the updates on this issue; I can assure you all that we are still working on this. We attempted a potential fix with the last patch, but after checking the crash reports, it looks like it didn’t solve the problem. While we will be continuing to work on a solution, you may encounter this less frequently in the meantime if you lower your sound quality.

Thank you for your continued patience while we work on this bug.

Just got this for the first time last night. I upgraded my system and updated some firmwares but it seemed fine before did any of that. I tried almost everything I can think of to fix it. Lowered the volume, selected different audio sources, changed video drivers, rebooted and reloaded the game countless times.

Was this before or after the update? We tried another potential fix for this issue with the update, so the timing makes a difference.

We have some audio optimizations queued up internally that should make it into an upcoming patch.

Stay tuned!

Hey folks,

Since the issue that this thread was started for has been resolved I’m going to go ahead and lock the thread. Reporting new issues in threads for different problems makes the issues very difficult to track.

For new or existing sound issues, please feel free to create new topics, making sure to be as descriptive and in-depth as possible regarding the problems you’re experiencing. The more details the better!

Thanks for your help!
