Accusations with no Explanation

Firstly, I love Anet, so I’m only complaining to help improve an already great game.

I was recently banned for botting, extended unattended play, using macros, or similar behavior. I mention all of those because I still don’t quite know what I did. They opened my account back up, but provided no details as to what I did; only stating that I was “involved in a violation”, but they were going to “extend leniency”. On the very off chance that I was cheating but didn’t know I was cheating, I asked how I could avoid this again. It doesn’t resolve much if they ask me to stop what it is I was doing, but I have no idea what that is. They were not able to give me anything more because this was all disclosed information.

I had suggested that the only thing that comes close to what I was being accused of was perhaps the mouse I use; however, I only use one key for every button on my mouse, which as far as I understand, is legal.

So I am now on the black list but have no idea why I am there, and I feel like I’m walking on egg shells before the second strike; which will probably be a lot more severe.

Once again, I can’t think of anything I did that falls into that list, but Support says its a “fact” I was “involved in a violation”. Do you guys think they have to say that to cover their tracks when their wrong, or did I actually unknowingly cheat? I would love to know what people think, and would love to hear suggestions of why I got flagged and how I can avoid it. I would also love hear if anyone else has run into the same problem.

This is not an issue that can be resolved through a forum post. Please update your ticket — simply respond to one of the most recent e-mails you received with the ticket number in the subject line — and an agent will assist you.

Please be aware that we will not provide a “blueprint for cheating” but telling someone how s/he was detected doing whatever s/he did to get suspended or terminated. Even if you are reinstated, our revealing, “Well, you did A, B, C, and D, and that looked like cheating” will give cheaters examples of what we track to try to take action on cheaters and exploiters.

I know it’s frustrating if you truly are innocent, but we have to keep the detection heuristics confidential, and we need to keep them quite close to the line between cheating and non-cheating, or a gazillion cheaters will plague our game.

If you were suspended or terminated in error, Support will help you. And if you were entirely innocent of wrongdoing, we sincerely apologize for making an error. But do know this: Sometimes, we will give someone a second chance, and in that case it’s up to that player to figure out what s/he did and why that account was actioned so as to prevent future the future suspension or termination of an account. And sometimes, those who post to say they didn’t do anything (and I am not pointing at anyone in this thread, but speaking generally) actually did do something, they simply didn’t expect to get caught and they’d like details so they can modify their illicit actions to not get caught in the future.
