I’m pretty mad right now that I log off for about a week, get an email notification yesterday about an email change, on top of that I seen that someone from China had been on my account. I send a support ticket, about 2 hours later, account is restored, and they tell me -“In regards to any missing items such as gold or items, we are currently unable to provide restorations or any direct assistance in reclaiming what was lost. We understand that you may have become attached to the characters that are missing items, so to get you back on your feet and playing once more we would suggest seeking out the ‘Renown Heart’ NPCs that have had their tasks completed. They tend to provide useful gear for small amounts of Karma.” And I think that is complete bull crap. I put well over 200 hours, I also lost gems I payed money for, so I would seriously want my items back, or a refund, one of the two.

I’m sorry that this happened to you. The most likely situation is that you used a password that you have used in the past, and that password was available through one of the many stolen password lists that are available to RMTs (Real-Money Traders).

Changing the password every week is good. But you must use a unique password for the game. Please read Mike O’Brien’s article on security for more information: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/mike-obrien-on-account-security/ And note that we are adding additional means for players to secure their accounts in the future.
