Hello and thanks for reading.

After the last patch on April 15 i logged in, well tried to. Apparently there was now a mobile authenticator place on my account. I did no do this.

I have noticed a lot of threads about account hacks and mobile authenticators…….. interesting thing there Anet

After about an hour they had finally removed the mobile authenticator.

keep in mind my account was set so only I could log into it from my computer, within my home and from only my IP address. I didn’t receive any notification that someone else was trying to access it from an unknown IP, or someone was changing the passcode or anything like that. AND the email address on the account wasn’t change SO WHY DIDN’T I RECEIVE ANY KIND OF EMAIL FROM THE UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS?

Its been almost exactly 1 week since I reported this and this is the response i received.

Hello Chris,

After taking a look at your Guild Wars 2 account, I found that you previously received an account restoration when your account was compromised in the past. Due to the security liability related to compromised accounts, and because of their possible negative impact on the game economy, we cannot offer you another restoration.

If you require assistance with anything else, please let us know.

MY ACCOUNT HAS NEVER BEEN COMPROMISED UNTIL NOW!!!!!!!! and why did it take a week to get this response?

Have a lot of accounts been hacked recently? Seems like it according to the forums. Same thing with mystery mobile authenticators.

Since you guys wont respond to me by email lets have a public talk about this…

They aren’t going to reply here. The breach wasn’t at their end. Someone got enough info from your system, likely though compromised e-mail account, to add an authenticator and then it was easy to jack and empty your account.

And since this wasn’t the first time and they made clear that only one restoration per account you are SOL. Maybe you need to evaluate your e-mail and computer security habits rather than lash out at them.

The critical part to state is the following:

The breach wasn’t at their end. Someone got enough info from your system, likely though compromised e-mail account, to add an authenticator and then it was easy to jack and empty your account.

This is provably and absolutely true. We don’t have a security issue. The account compromises, or “hacks,” are happening because of personal security breaches, and most commonly they involve a “hack” of the e-mail account, too.
