Character deleted?

I joined in on the beta in patch 5 and installed on my PC and played a Barbarian up to about level 8. A few days after that, I installed the game on my other computer, a Mac, mostly to see how it runs on a Mac. It installed fine and I was able to log in and play my character. I didn't play for a few days, and the game was updated to patch 6. When I updated my PC client to patch 6 and logged in to play, my character is now gone.

Is this intentional, or did I just encounter a bug? If it's a bug, it seems like a serious one if it can wipe characters! I didn't see any mention of a character wipe for patch 6...
