Electrocute lock up - spell and game

I've used electrocute with a lvl 13 F wizard twice now in Cathedral Level 1 and locked up the spell and game entirely. She has the Templar companion from earlier play with her. The first time it happened when I killed a treasure thief (I think that's the name) with electrocute, the second time when I killed a large group (10+) of monsters. In both cases the spell locked and there was no way to stop it. Trying to cast other spells did nothing. It takes a while for her arcane energy to empty and when it finally does, electrocute stops. She still can't play, however. When I try to activate her spells she behaves like a melee char (i.e., weapon swinging). Both while she's locked in electrocute and afterward it's impossible to end the game. The only way out is to use Task Manager to kill the app, or wait until the server kills the connection. While the spell's working she can travel quite a distance through the map which shows no monsters. Templar remains locked in place (he's the pink dot in screen shot #4).

On Win 7 Pro 64-bit playing full screen with character zoomed out.
