Vertical sync problem (120hz monitor)

Good evening I'm posting here to tell you about a small problem with the vertical sync.

Having a 120hz screen when I enable vertical sync my FPS are locked at 60 instead of 120, when I disable vertical sync my fps are 110 average which is not bad but I thought it would turn to 120 given the stable configuration pc I (GTX 580 SLI I7 2600K), I wonder if by the release of the fps will be 120 with a configuration of this type and if the problem of vertical synchronization is resolved.
Why not include the frequency resolution and more like this being made on WoW.
