lost rare ring in auction house

doing a run of the skeleton king, he dropped a rare ring that i picked up and attempted to sell in the auction house. everything was going as planned until i clicked the "create auction" button. once hit, the ring did not show up in the "current auctions" pane, in the rings page of items on auction, or on my character. it simply dissapeared. not sure what else to say on this matter.
