Patch #5: Players are now effected by latency

I posted about this on feedback, but then noticed I should have dropped this here.

Must be a bug. Unplayable gaming experience for me with 250-300ms.

Before Patch #5 actual gaming was happening on the client and only verification data was sent to servers. This caused D3 to be completely lag free, since the verification was there just to find out tampering.

There is no difference in our servers between Beta 4 and 5. This game was always played only online just like World of Warcraft.

Like these two posters asked, what is your ping in game? Just because lag is happening on your computer doesn't mean everyone is lagging. My ping has not changed either at home nor at work since we patched to Beta 5.

In regards to any choppiness, that has already been reported and explained in another forum. I am going to need more information from you regarding your computer's specifications.

Also, where are you connecting from? The Beta servers are currently in the United States so people from other countries will experience much more lag.

the client/server relationship in Diablo 3 is very different to WoW in that you do not experience combat delays due to latency in Diablo 3

My post was in response to the original poster who asked if something changed server-wise between Beta 4 and Beta 5. I didn't mean to imply that D3 has the same netcode as WoW. The workings of the Beta servers are a mystery to all of us. :)

As this thread is no longer about a specific bug, I am moving it to Beta Feedback.
