one shrine effect doesn't supercede another ?

Any character type...

Clicked a shrine outside Defiled Crypt - Fortune, chance to find magic items and gold greatly increased. Correct gold-treasure-chest icon displayed above hotbar; correct tooltip.

(within 5 seconds) Into Defiled Crypt, click another shrine, this one is for 25% experience bonus. I was surprised to see that the Fortune icon remained and no new icon appeared, either alongside the first one (if both shrine effects are intended to be active) or replacing it.

Can't tell which effects I'm getting; is the XP bonus active now? Bug or expected behavior?

(checked it on merriam-webster.com ... SUPERCEDE is a variant of SUPERSEDE ... cool)

As Nannex stated, the Experience Shrines are currently bugged. In the full game, when you have one shrine buff on your character and click on a second shrine, you will get a second buff and keep your first one until it runs out.
