Templar disappearing

I played yesterday on "Invite Only" mode, with no other players in the game, as a male Barbarian.

For the quest to free the templar, finding his equipment, and then killing the named mob, Jodor(sp?). After killing the mob and looting the items, the templar does not offer to join me, and does not appear in town either.

I had no problems with it on my first runthrough of the game with a male witch doctor, but now that I'm playing a barbarian, the templar refuses to join/talk to me after the quest chain, and does not appear in town either.
