mace + cleave = sword sounds

sry if its known already but when you cleave with a mace you hear sword slashing sounds, is it the sound of cleave what ever the weapon is equipped ? bug ?

ive heard the exact same thing with whirlwind in a diablo 3 beta video

Cleave and Whirlwind use their own sound effects, not the sound effect of your equipped weapon.
