Error_3006 creating new hero

Well, I found another topic about this in the search, but it appears to have been deleted. My fiance just got his invite to the D3 beta and downloaded the client. He's been trying to create a character, and after entering a name, the screen will hang for about 15 to 20 seconds, then give him "Your request has timed out (ERROR_3006)." If he tries to create a character again afterwards, he receives another error saying, "Your account name or password is incorrect. Please try again. (ERROR_3)."

This is, of course, after logging in successfully, and his password and account name have obviously been accepted (or he wouldn't be at the character creation screen). Any ideas on what's going on? Sorry if this has been stated elsewhere, but again, the only thread I found regarding ERROR_3006 has been deleted.

EDIT: I'm getting the same error now when trying to create another hero.

Getting same error when trying to create a game. This is recent though, everything was working a few hours ago.
