Only the "EN" appears. I can still type and submit text... just can't see it.

Hey MaskedKoala,

Although it look weird, currently all chat is hidden behind any UI panel on the left side of the screen. This is intended by our UI artists.

Blizzard is looking for feedback on this though, so please post in the Beta Feedback forums :)
