Gold AH won't work without changes...

A gold only auction house will not work in Diablo because gold is just too easy to come by in Diablo games. There aren’t enough things in the game to sink gold into to keep its value high. Auction house works on MMO's because there are lots of options to sink gold into. A few examples would be crafting, guilds, personal houses, guild houses, tournaments, travel, etc... Because Diablo doesn't have the gold sinks like these available in the game (other than artisans), gold will forever be easily earned worthless.

These are a few things that could be done to make gold more valuable in the game could be:
- Perhaps change the system to have Copper > Silver > Gold that way High end items don’t cost hundreds of thousands of gold.
- Charge a daily/weekly/monthly gold fee to host a guild channel on bnet
- Charge gold to enter into daily/weekly/monthly PVP tournaments that will offer minimal award in gold, but will be the only way players can earn points towards a PVP ranking system.
- Charge a fee to reload charges on the recall stone
- Charge for repairs

It basically sounds like turning Diablo into an MMO, but unless the monetary system changes, gold only auction houses won’t work.

I like the idea that the Diablo world is real. Like it's all in a shoe box and we're looking in, kind of moving trees around as tiny villagers yell at us.
