Why has d2 died?

it was a great game, and i used to play, but why has it died?

for some reason, i remember it as being more fun the wow, but wow has lots more options in terms of end-game content.

Over a quarter of the people logging in to Battle.net each day/month/year are playing Diablo II, which is right around where StarCraft is. There are still a lot of people playing and enjoying the game, which is quite amazing considering the game is over eight years old.
