Slapping a name or internet handle on an item is a lack or creativity and I don't feel good at all by seeing the names of the latest necro items that got posted in the latest beta article. I'd suggest looking at how items/runewords are named in D2 and try to evolve from there.
An exception to what I wrote above is Kevin Kanai Griffith. This is one case where someone *does* deserve to be immortalized in the game and I'd even change the name of the legendary skorn item to Kanai's Scorn even though an annual event exists that gives you a different item.
Now with all the above said, lets talk about better ways to pay tribute without forcing it upon everyone.
Lets utilize the Mystic and if someone wants to put Dayntee or other people's internet handles on all their gear they can simply visit the mystic and select a personalize option. It would work similarly to the dye or transmog option where a menu of names is select-able and it would basically accomplish the very same thing without these names/handles being forced on everyone playing the game.
Another idea would be to put a wall of these names in some area (perhaps even the challenge rift area) here these names/handles are viable by those that wish to see it and read it.
At the end of the day; I sit down to play Diablo after a long day of work to kill monsters, run with other players, and collect really cool loot. Please don't further taint this game with boring names for items or adding internet handle names as items.
If I want to see Dayntee's name over and over again, I can do this through several other outlets like her twitter, twitch channel, imgur, etc. etc. etc.
No disrespect to anyone who qualifies in getting their handle into the game, but please don't force it on us players!
