Reign of the Black King bug

After the new patch and the wipe I recreated a wizard because I wanted to see the new runes and spells and it seems when I enter the king's crypt during reign of the black king, he shows up says I'm doomed and all and the next step is to kill the returned, but they're nowhere in sight and i can walk right up to the throne with no spawn of them, is it because I previously defeated the skeleton king with a wizard before or is this a bug?
