how do AU Servers work on different regions?

Is the AU server just a copy of the US region or how does that work?

If I choose to play on ASIA or EU region what server does it connect me to?

So you will still choose the Americas in the server selection on battlenet app. If you choose Asia or eu you will connect to their server.

Thats correct. The Australian servers are set up so players from this region select Americans and will automatically be routed to Australian server hardware. If you wanted to try the Australian servers from outside of the region you would need to follow that link supplied above. Basically the shortcut will force your game to route to a specific server.

Keep in mind that your characters are part of the Americas region so can only be played on Americas and Australian hardware.
