Having a serious issue with gold drops.

Simply put, I'm losing my mind running around trying to pick up these gold drops all over the place since companion scroll is not in beta. It's killing it for me, big time. I actually don't want to play the beta anymore because of it.

I played diablo 2 + LoD for years and I still have my level 90's that I can log into still to this day.

I can say with unequivocal certainty that nobody and I mean nobody picked up every gold drop in diablo 2 multiplayer. NO ONE did it. I myself left at least 98% of the gold I saw on the ground and just ran past it. I only picked gold up in D2 when there was a large clump of it in 1 spot, like 17-25k. Those clumps I'd pick up now and then but meh it wasn't that important because I'd make all my gold selling drops I'd find while Mfing or playing the game so I didn't even pick it up at all after a certain point. Out of the 8+ years I have played diablo 2 I have never seen anyone do it in a multiplayer game, not once. To to mention the obvious fact that 7 other people were picking gold up with you on the same screen. We don't have that either anymore.

Scroll of companion is gone. I like this fact, those little pets were just out of place. However the usefulness of them is blindingly blatant without them.

The thought of doing this after every engagement, after every barrel breaks or loose stone gets turned over, from act 1-2-3-4 in norm, nm, hell and inferno, every time I want to play the game, with the possibility of going over 400+ hours game time, makes it completely broken in my opinion. This is a gameplay mechanic that literally breaks the game for me. There's no chance I'm going to do that.

I can go back to town to sell stuff or craft stuff, I'm fine with that. But I will not and refuse to run around and collect all of these little gold drops every time there is a encounter or when someone breaks a barrel or does something where gold falls. I can already see gold bots being encouraged because of this. Which brings up the question of why would blizzard remove the cauldron and the cube if we have breaks in gameplay every single time after engagements due to the need to collect gold? It goes against everything Jay Wilson has said about keeping the pace and it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I didn't play Diablo 2 for 8 years because it was a bore-chore.

This also raises another issue. Items. Don't we already have +MF % and +Gold Find % affix?

Why do we need 2 dedicated affixes just for gold alone?

"Yeah um blacksmith, instead of 230 strength on an item I'm hoping for a gold pickup radius affix instead so I can bypass a tedious monotonous unfun gameplay mechanic."

..................... -_- ??

A broken affix for broken gameplay.

It breaks the pace of the gameplay and slows it down to a snails tread. I thought going to town was supposed to accomplish breaks and removing white items and greys to make it on-par with Diablo 2's fast paced action, now you want us to pick up every single gold drop on the ground after every engagement? You can't ask players to do this, it's ridiculous. You can't ask us to replace a power affix with something as ridiculous as increased gold radius pickup. That is not viable gameplay.

Nobody picked up gold in diablo 2. You're changing the gameplay into something that it never was about, and it slows the pace down dramatically and makes it tedious, not to mention the impact it has on items.

This is not a light issue, it severely impacts the way the game is played regularly and it severely impacts items. Both in terrible ways. It is so broken right now that I don't even want to test patch 10 anymore.

Suggestion#1: Bring back the scroll of companion but remove the companion and have it simply increase the players gold radius by 4000+ yards for a long duration of time.

Suggestion#2: Make gold a rare drop and have it act like an item in a sense, so it drops in large amounts much less frequently than it currently does.

Suggestion#3: Remove the gold radius affix. Giving gold 2 dedicated item affixes is not viable. No one is going to realistically make their character weaker on top of having a gold find % statistic and a MF % static just so they can get around broken gameplay by getting gear with a gold radius affix on it. You could simply make the gold find % affix also increase gold radius at the same time. Either way we don't really need such a boring affix as this is.

You did, everyone did, until they realized it wasn't worth anything. You left it on the ground for that reason, not because it required a click to pick it up. If it was worth something or even helpful you'd absolutely have picked it up.

You'll want to pick it up in Diablo III, and you don't even have to click on it. You just have to run sort of near it.

Sorry, but we just don't agree that this is an issue. Picking items up off the ground (especially something that's done automatically for you like gold...) is the point of the game.

Lets be honest here, that gold affix radius is a waste of space and it's only impacting other items in a negative way.

It's definitely something different, but we thought we'd at least try it out. It may not stick.
