Frozen game in Agatha's Hut basement

While I was fighting the risen and the guard captain in the basement of agatha's hut the game froze and was almost completely unresponsive.

I was casting Ray of Frost and the spell failed to stop casting when I released the button for a second or two while I ran from the zombies, and continued to shoot the ray while I was moving and when my arcane power was empty. I was slowed or snared but could still move around, the zombies and friendly npc were all stuck. When I pressed ray of frost again I would go into the casting stance but the ray wouldn't work. My Arcane power regenerated to 20 and then wouldn't regenerate or drain again. My health slowly drained to 0, at which point I didn't die. I didn't try to use the ladder back up to the overworld but I did try to leave the game with the menu options, and the leave game button as well as the exit game button didn't do anything. my system specs:

I'm gonna go try to reproduce the bug now, i'll edit what I find.

EDIT: Since I can't get into the beta now, I'm going to say that this is what happens when you get disconnected from battle.net. The game never told me I was disconnected.
