We've certainly noticed this issue (not only with the Necromancer, but with other pet classes as well). We're currently investigating the underlying cause, and we're aiming to address this issue in a future patch.
Here's the original post:

Hey, so I made this thread about the necromancer mages at first, but since then I've heard from people that this is affecting other classes as well. Here's the link to the necromancer thread:

So, what I noticed was that quite often, almost constantly throughout a rift for example, I end up with a whole bunch of mages (like 8-10), after popping Land of the Dead or just devouring a lot of essence, who stand (or float, rather) around doing absolutely nothing, even if there's an elite right next to them, right in the middle of them. They just float around, staring into the distance, while the elite keeps blasting away at me.
This often takes several seconds, even something like 4-5 seconds, which is an eternity in higher GRs, when the elite gets to use its affixes.
I'm not exactly sure when and where this specifically happens; sometimes they ignore a frozen elite and do absolutely nothing, sometimes they just start shooting at normal trash that's a mile away and don't care about the elite that's an inch away from them.
I can't say I've played WD that much that I could say whether this has always been the case, but now that the necromancer gets to command the melee skeletons, and as the mages are the actual source of the necromancer's damage (while playing Rathma), you can definitely notice when the mages are having several second idle bouts constantly.
I thought I'd post this here on the general forum as well, as this, what clearly has to be a bug or at the very least bad design, seems to affect all pets, not just the necromancer.
If this is something you've noticed and would like Blizzard to fix, then make your voice heard. If there were other threads on this issue, then please do point them out. Let's try to get the pet AI fixed.
